Why LVP for desert and family homes?

Modern LVP looks convincingly like wood or stone, and when a plank someday loses a fight with something heavy, it can be replaced without redoing the room.

Does LVP need floor prep?
Yes, more than most people expect. LVP is thin and rigid enough to telegraph every hump and dip in the slab beneath it: skip the prep and you get bouncy spots, clicking seams, and planks that unlock under traffic. We grind high spots, fill low ones, and get the slab flat before the first plank clicks together.
That's the same prep-first standard we bring to every floor we install as a Temecula and Coachella Valley tile and flooring contractor: the finished surface is only ever as good as what's under it.
What drives LVP installation cost?
The plank itself, mostly the thickness of its wear layer, the area you're covering, how much slab prep the floor needs, and the demo: tearing out tile costs more than pulling carpet. Transitions, stair treads, and baseboards add detail work at the edges.

Is LVP really waterproof?
The planks themselves are: spills, wet feet, and pet accidents sit on the surface until you wipe them up. Water can still find seams and edges in a genuine flood, so bathrooms and laundry rooms get the right trim and sealant details. For everyday life, it's as close to worry-free as flooring gets.
Does LVP stay cool in desert heat?
It stays noticeably more comfortable than carpet and doesn't bake like some surfaces do, which is part of why it's so popular in desert homes. Big west-facing windows are the exception for any floor: strong direct sun cycles and fades every material, so we talk through window exposure when we plan the job.
